A winning result: Notts County FC scores on style & sustainability with Cistermiser’s water-saving washroom solutions
Introduction
Founded in 1862, Notts County Football Club proudly holds the title of the world’s oldest professional football club. As part of the ongoing project to modernise the stadium and enhance the matchday experience, the club recently upgraded the Ladies’ and Gents’ toilet facilities within the Wheeler Suite. Working closely with Plumbline Plumbing & Heating Supplies and Cistermiser, the refurbishment aimed to deliver a sleek new look, while improving sustainability, water efficiency, and hygiene standards.
The Challenge
The existing washrooms within the Wheeler Suite were dated and no longer met the club’s expectations for presentation or efficiency. With increasing focus on sustainability and water conservation across all commercial spaces, the club recognised the opportunity to create a more environmentally responsible and user-friendly facility. The refurbishment also provided a chance to address safe water temperature control and accessibility, ensuring the new design would meet modern regulations and user needs.
The Solution
Following a detailed consultation, Cistermiser’s Business Development Manager, Nick Kaye, met with Karl Donaghey from Plumbline Plumbing & Heating Supplies to advise on product selection and best practice. The team agreed on a bold black and white design theme in keeping with the club’s colours, alongside high-quality, water-efficient fittings. Cistermiser products chosen for the upgrade included:
All basin taps were fed through TMV-blended temperature control systems to maintain safe water temperatures at the point of use. Non-slip commercial-grade tiles were selected to ensure user safety, and energy-efficient hand dryers completed the modern look.
The refurbishment covered both facilities:
The installation was completed by Curtis Bethell of Bethell Plumbing & Heating, working alongside Plumbline Plumbing & Heating Supplies, between July & September 2025.
The Result
The transformation of the Wheeler Suite washrooms has been remarkable. The new facilities now reflect the professionalism and heritage of Notts County FC while incorporating modern technology that supports sustainability and hygiene goals. Although pre-refurbishment data was unavailable, the combination of EasyflushEVO Cisterns, Direct Flush urinal controls, and Novatap sensor taps ensures significant water and CO₂ savings over time.
The project demonstrates how thoughtful design and the right product choices can deliver both style and substance, creating washrooms that are efficient, compliant, and built to last.

“As Notts County updated the toilets in our hospitality areas, we were also keen to improve water efficiency, hygiene, and overall aesthetics. With the addition of sensor controls, Cistermiser provided the ideal solution to achieve all of these objectives, ” says Adam Chantrey, Head of Commercial at Notts County FC.
“The transformation of the Wheeler Suite washrooms is impressive. By using Cistermiser’s water-saving technology, we’ve helped the club modernise its facilities while reducing water waste — a win- on and off the Pitch for both sustainability and performance,” commented Karl Donaghey, Business Development Manager from Plumbline Plumbing & Heating Supplies.
Conclusion
By partnering with Plumbline Plumbing & Heating Supplies and Cistermiser, Notts County FC has achieved a washroom refurbishment that balances aesthetics, sustainability, and performance. The result is a cleaner, safer, and more efficient facility that reflects the club’s ongoing commitment to excellence, on and off the pitch.
