The Challenge
Over time, the existing automated urinal control system at bet365’s UK Head Office had become difficult to manage, with limited visibility into its performance. While still operational, the system was no longer optimised for efficiency, leading to higher than usual water usage and occasional maintenance issues.

The Solution
Following productive initial discussions, Cistermiser supplied a sample Direct Flush Discreet (DFD) unit in July 2024 for a live trial in one of the urinals. The early results were encouraging, prompting bet365 to swiftly expand the initiative in October 2024 by installing an additional four DFD units within the same gents’ toilet block.
To ensure a robust evaluation, pulse meters were installed on both the upgraded facility and a comparable control block. This thoughtful approach enabled the facilities team, led by bet365’s Environmental Manager, to capture and analyse real-time water usage data, reinforcing their commitment to evidence-based improvements and environmental responsibility.
The Result
After several months of detailed monitoring, the results spoke for themselves: the DFD-equipped toilet block achieved an outstanding 85% reduction in water usage.
