Cistermiser
Breeam

Offices (Also applicable to BREEAM Industrial with the exception of HW06 and E04 in the working areas of the building, although office areas of an industrial building will be assessed under BREEAM offices).

Cistermiser products can help gain BREEAM points within various sections of the BREEAM buildings assessment:

  Cistermiser Washroom Control

  Cistermiser Easyflush, Directflush, Novatap

  Cistermiser AV Range

Cistermiser Washroom Control.

The Cistermiser Washroom Control System can help a building design gain BREEAM credit ratings under three distinct categories as well as providing additional washroom management functions.

Credit ref: HW06. Where evidence provided demonstrates that lighting, in all occupied areas, is zoned to allow separate control.

Credit ref: E04. Where energy efficient external luminaires are fitted and all light fittings are controlled for the presence of daylight.

Credit ref: W04. Where evidence is provided to demonstrate that proximity detection shut off is provided to the water supply to all urinals and WCs.

Cistermiser Washroom Control controls the lighting in the washroom zone so that lights are on only when users are present. This provides several benefits in addition to the well being of the user in that when a user is not present the lighting is automatically switched off saving energy and users not familiar with the facility are also catered for in that by means of the PIR sensor lighting is automatically switched on when a user is detected.
The Washroom Control System also has a daylight sensor within the unit to provide switching only when the level of natural lighting is insufficient (the sensor is adjustable for each application).
The Washroom Control System controls proximity shut off to the water supply to the urinals and WCs by means of the PIR sensor detecting occupancy and providing signals to the control valves during periods of no occupation. A further benefit of Cistermiser Washroom Control is that the unit can provide proximity shut off for the hot water supply as well thereby protecting the whole washroom and not just the toilets.

Cistermiser Easyflush, Direct Flush (Discreet and Accessible), Novatap

The Cistermiser Easyflush, Direct Flush and the Novatap can help a building design gain BREEAM credit ratings under the water category as well as providing various health, safety and maintenance benefits.

Credit ref: W01. Credits are awarded based on the improvement over standard specification of water fittings. A standard specification would include 6 litre flush toilets, urinals with no controls, a shower that uses 12 - 15 litres per minute, standard taps with no flow restrictors. In a formal BREEAM assessment the predicted water consumption will be calculated using the BREEAM water calculator, - as a guide the following can be used as a rough estimate of likely number of credits:

  • Where some of the fittings use less water than a standard fitting 0.714 pts
  • OR Where all of the fittings are low water or, where only some of the fittings are low water, rainwater or greywater systems are specified 1.43 pts
  • OR Where all of the fittings are low water and rainwater or greywater systems are specified 2.14 pts.

The Cistermiser Easyflush no touch dual flush WC valve improves on the standard specification in W01 for 6 litre flush toilets by providing a controlled dual flush from a single sensor, the Easyflush can provide an adjustable part flush (this is the default setting) that can be set to flush no more than half the cistern capacity and generally less than this giving significant savings, the full flush capacity is also adjustable and can be set to further reduce the flush volume of the cistern. The Easyflush unit is also unique in providing a linked flush and fill function ensuring that during the flush cycle the inlet valve cannot open ensuring no additional water can pass out of the open cistern outlet. As the Cistermiser Easyflush is also touch free it has significant advantages with regard to infection control and some significant anti vandal and maintenance benefits.

The Cistermiser Direct Flush (Discreet and Accessible) urinal control valve improves on the standard specification in W01 by providing flush control to each urinal individually from the mains water supply. The flush is reduced to approximately 0.5 litres per operation and also has a flush arrest function to reduce water consumption further during periods of high use. The unit is programmable for flush duration, sensing range and has a hygiene rinse function for periods of low occupancy thereby maintaining a good environment within the washroom. Cistermiser DF products also have a cleaner's function which will reduce water consumption further during essential maintenance.

The Cistermiser Novatap hands free infra red basin spout improves on the standard specification in W01 by providing a regulated flow of 5 litres per minute across a pressure range of 0.5 - 6 bar by means of a dynamic pressure compensated flow regulator within the spout outlet. The Novatap can also reduce water consumption by means of a programmable run on that can drastically reduce the amount of time taps are allowed to run during and after use. Novatap is also extremely hygienic as it is a touch free infrared operated unit.

Cistermiser Novatap can also help achieve further BREEAM credits under credit reference HW16 where hot and cold water systems have been designed, or actions taken to minimize risks of microbial contamination.

The Novatap can provide credits in this category when it is being used on hot water systems in conjunction with Thermostatic Mixing Valves as the Novatap has a periodic hygiene rinse function that prevents the warm, mixed water from stagnating in the supply line between the TMV and the outlet thereby reducing the risk of microbial contamination such as legionella.

Cistermiser AV Range.

The Cistermiser AV Range can help a building design achieve specific BREEAM credits under the water category whilst providing a robust anti-vandal, anti-ligature water control package for high risk and hard use environments.

  • OR Where all of the fittings are low water and rainwater or greywater systems are specified 2.14 pts.

Credit ref: HW16 where hot and cold water systems have been designed, or actions taken to minimize risks of microbial contamination.

The Cistermiser AV Range improves on the standard specification in W01 by providing control of the WC flush via the Cistermiser Easyflush WC valve providing an adjustable cistern flush volume and also a dual flush capability to reduce water consumption, this valve also has the unique flush and fill feature that prevents any water entering the cistern whilst the outlet is open further saving water consumption. The AV range also improves the W01 specification by providing control of the urinals by means of the Cistermiser DF urinal control valve, this product improves on the standard specification by providing a measured flush to each individual urinal bowl, the flush volume can be adjusted for maximum efficiency and is recommended to be around 0.5 litres per flush. The AV Range further improves on the standard specification in W01 as the basin outlets are fitted with a dynamic, pressure regulated flow control set at 2.2 litres per minute and shower outlets that are fitted with a dynamic, pressure regulated flow control set at 7 litres per minute all these outlets are available either standard anti-vandal pattern or a very low profile anti-ligature pattern. The AV Range of products has also been designed to incorporate further water saving and vandal resistant options such as an anti-flood function that prevents deliberate repeat activation and a remote disable function allowing building operators to control the water remotely.

The Cistermiser AV Range can also provide credits in the HW16 category when it is being used on hot water systems in conjunction with Thermostatic Mixing Valves as the AV Range has a periodic hygiene rinse function that prevents the warm, mixed water from stagnating in the supply line between the TMV and the outlet thereby reducing the risk of microbial contamination such as legionella in showers and basin outlets.
